Assistant Quantity Surveyor – Construction

Job Summary

We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Quantity Surveyor to support our Quantity Surveying and Commercial team on construction projects. The successful candidate will assist with quantity take-offs, BOQ preparation, cost estimation, site measurements, valuations, variations, procurement coordination, and maintaining accurate commercial records.

Key Responsibilities
Assist in preparing Bills of Quantities (BOQs), quantity take-offs, and cost estimates.
Review architectural, structural, civil, and MEP drawings to identify and measure quantities.
Assist with site measurements and verify completed works against drawings and BOQs.
Assist in preparing interim valuations, payment applications, and progress claims.
Review and compare quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
Assist in preparing quotation comparison sheets and commercial evaluations.
Assist with pricing variations, additional works, and change orders.
Monitor project quantities, material usage, costs, and wastage.
Assist in tracking project budgets, expenditures, and commitments.
Maintain accurate records of BOQs, measurements, quotations, variations, contracts, and payment documents.
Support the preparation of monthly cost and commercial reports.
Assist with subcontractor payment applications and final account preparation.
Coordinate with Project Managers, Site Engineers, Procurement, Accounts, suppliers, and subcontractors.
Assist the senior Quantity Surveyor with tendering, procurement, cost control, and contract administration.
Ensure all QS documentation is properly maintained and updated.
Requirements
Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
1–3 years of relevant experience in Quantity Surveying, preferably within the construction industry.
Good understanding of BOQ preparation, quantity take-offs, measurements, costing, and valuations.
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
Knowledge of construction materials, labor costs, and subcontractor pricing.
Good knowledge of MS Excel; experience with AutoCAD and QS/estimation software is an advantage.
Strong numerical, analytical, and organizational skills.
Good communication and coordination skills.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a construction/project team.
Bahrain/GCC construction experience is an advantage.
Must be currently available in Bahrain.
Immediate joiners are strongly preferred.
Preferred Candidate

Candidates with previous Bahrain construction experience, practical site exposure, and the ability to join immediately will be given preference.
