Position Summary
The HVAC & Utilities Technician is responsible for the routine maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and operational performance of industrial HVAC systems and plant utility equipment. This role ensures optimal indoor climate control, efficient process cooling, and a continuous supply of compressed air to support uninterrupted factory production.
Key Responsibilities
- HVAC & Package Units
* Inspect, service, and maintain industrial package units, split systems, and rooftop units (RTUs).
* Perform airflow testing, belt adjustments, coil cleaning, motor/blower servicing, and electrical contactor replacements.
* Diagnose and repair refrigeration cycles, leak points, expansion valves, and electrical control circuits.
- Chillers
* Monitor, test, and maintain air-cooled chiller systems to meet process cooling requirements.
* Check refrigerant charge levels, compressor oil levels, water circulation flows, and operating pressures.
* Inspect and maintain cooling towers, water pumps, strainers, and heat exchangers.
- Air Compressors & Compressed Air Systems
* Perform preventive maintenance on rotary screw/reciprocating air compressors, air dryers (refrigerated and desiccant), and filtration units.
* Monitor pressure levels, perform oil/filter changes, and replace condensate drain valves.
* Detect and repair compressed air piping leaks across the production floor to optimize system efficiency.
- General AC Systems & Facilities
* Maintain and service split AC units, ductless multi-splits unit across factory offices, control rooms, and server rooms.
* Ensure strict temperature and humidity controls in critical production or storage zones.
* System Monitoring & Compliance
* Conduct daily diagnostic rounds and log pressure, temperature, and operating parameters across all equipment.
* Safe recovery, recycling, and charging of refrigerants in compliance with environmental and safety regulations.
* Maintain clean work areas and strict adherence to Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) protocols during service.
Qualifications & Requirements
* Education: Technical Diploma or Vocational Certification in HVAC, Refrigeration
* Experience: 5+ years of experience in industrial maintenance covering chillers, compressed air systems, and package units.
* Certifications: EPA/Refrigerant handling certification (or local equivalency) preferred.
Technical Skills:
* Proficiency in reading electrical schematics, piping diagrams, and control logic manuals.
* Hands-on experience with manifold gauges, leak detectors, vacuum pumps, and electrical multimeters.
* Basic knowledge of PLC-controlled HVAC panels and Building Management Systems (BMS).
