Purchasing Officer – Construction

Job Overview

We are looking for an experienced and organized Purchasing Officer – Construction to manage day-to-day purchasing and procurement activities for our construction projects.

The successful candidate will be responsible for sourcing construction materials, obtaining competitive quotations, coordinating with suppliers, preparing purchase orders, and ensuring timely delivery of materials to project sites.

Key Responsibilities
Manage the complete purchasing process from receiving purchase requisitions through quotation, purchase order, and delivery.
Source construction materials, MEP materials, tools, equipment, consumables, and site requirements.
Identify, evaluate, and maintain a database of reliable suppliers and vendors.
Request quotations from suppliers and prepare quotation/price comparison sheets.
Negotiate prices, payment terms, discounts, and delivery schedules with suppliers.
Prepare and process Purchase Orders (POs), LPOs, RFQs, delivery notes, GRNs, and related documents.
Coordinate closely with suppliers, site engineers, project managers, stores, and accounts.
Follow up with suppliers to ensure materials are delivered to site according to project requirements and schedules.
Monitor pending purchase orders, material requirements, delivery status, and supplier turnaround times.
Verify delivered materials against purchase orders and approved specifications.
Coordinate with Accounts regarding invoice verification and supplier reconciliation.
Maintain accurate purchase registers, supplier records, quotation comparisons, procurement reports, and delivery logs.
Assist management in identifying cost-saving opportunities and alternative suppliers.
Resolve issues related to delayed deliveries, shortages, incorrect materials, or damaged goods.
Handle urgent material requirements while maintaining quality and cost control.
Requirements
2–4 years of experience in purchasing/procurement, preferably within the construction industry.
Strong knowledge of construction and MEP materials, tools, equipment, and consumables.
Previous experience dealing with suppliers and vendors in Bahrain is highly preferred.
Good understanding of construction purchasing procedures and procurement documentation.
Knowledge of RFQs, quotations, POs/LPOs, GRNs, delivery notes, invoices, and material receipt documentation.
Good negotiation, communication, coordination, and supplier follow-up skills.
Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Experience with ERP or procurement software is an advantage.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple purchase orders and urgent site requirements.
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Must be currently available in Bahrain.
Immediate joiners are strongly preferred.
Bahrain construction experience is an advantage.
Preferred Candidates

Candidates with previous experience working with construction contractors, fit-out companies, MEP companies, engineering companies, or building material suppliers in Bahrain will be given priority.

Candidates with good knowledge of the Bahrain construction supplier market are highly preferred.
