Procurement Officer – Construction

Job Overview

We are looking for an experienced and organized Procurement Officer – Construction to manage purchasing and procurement activities for construction projects.

The ideal candidate should have strong knowledge of construction materials, local suppliers, purchasing procedures, and procurement documentation. The candidate will coordinate closely with suppliers, site teams, engineers, project managers, stores, and accounts to ensure materials are sourced at competitive prices and delivered to site on time.

Key Responsibilities
Manage the complete procurement cycle from purchase requisition to purchase order and delivery.
Source construction materials, MEP materials, tools, equipment, consumables, and site requirements.
Identify and maintain a database of reliable suppliers and subcontractors.
Request, obtain, and compare quotations from suppliers.
Prepare quotation comparison sheets and recommend suitable suppliers based on price, quality, availability, and delivery time.
Negotiate prices, payment terms, discounts, and delivery schedules with suppliers.
Prepare and process Purchase Orders (POs), Local Purchase Orders (LPOs), RFQs, and related procurement documents.
Coordinate with site engineers and project teams regarding material requirements and specifications.
Follow up with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials to project sites.
Monitor pending orders, delivery schedules, and outstanding procurement requirements.
Verify delivery notes, invoices, GRNs/material receipt documents, and purchase orders.
Coordinate with Accounts regarding supplier invoices and payment documentation.
Maintain accurate procurement records, supplier databases, price lists, purchase registers, and delivery logs.
Assist in identifying cost-saving opportunities and alternative suppliers.
Monitor market prices for construction materials and maintain competitive supplier rates.
Resolve supplier, delivery, material, and documentation issues promptly.
Prepare regular procurement status reports for management.
Requirements
2–4 years of relevant experience in procurement/purchasing, preferably within the construction industry.
Strong knowledge of construction materials, MEP materials, tools, equipment, and consumables.
Previous experience dealing with Bahrain-based construction suppliers is highly preferred.
Good understanding of RFQs, quotations, POs/LPOs, delivery notes, GRNs, invoices, and procurement documentation.
Strong negotiation and supplier-management skills.
Excellent communication, coordination, and follow-up skills.
Good knowledge of MS Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Experience with ERP or procurement software is an advantage.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to handle multiple purchase requirements and urgent site requirements.
Ability to work under pressure and meet project deadlines.
Must be currently available in Bahrain.
Immediate joiners are strongly preferred.
Preferred Candidates

Candidates with previous experience working with construction contractors, fit-out companies, MEP companies, engineering companies, or building material suppliers in Bahrain will be given priority.
