There is a particular kind of education leader who understands that building schools is only the beginning. The greater challenge is creating an institution that can evolve with every generation of students while remaining rooted in the values that gave it purpose in the first place.
Ryan Pinto, CEO of the Ryan Group of Schools, has been part of that evolution as the organization has grown from its first school in Mumbai in 1976 into a network of more than 150 schools across 40-plus cities. Today, the Group serves more than 250,000 students with a community of over 16,000 educators.
What distinguishes the next chapter of the Ryan Group is its effort to combine the scale of a large education network with new approaches to learning. Under Pinto's leadership, the organization has emphasized technology-enabled education, 21st-century skills and learning models designed to prepare students for a rapidly changing world.
That philosophy has increasingly found expression through digital infrastructure and new learning initiatives. The Group's Ryan OS, for example, combines online and offline learning, while its broader portfolio includes programs built around leadership, creativity, global awareness and other skills beyond conventional academics.
For Pinto, however, education appears to be about more than technology or institutional expansion. In a 2025 interview, he recalled an encounter that helped him understand the deeper meaning of the family enterprise: seeing a former student recognize his mother and realizing that Ryan schools were ultimately about relationships and the lives built beyond the classroom.
The recognition surrounding Pinto and the institution has followed that evolution. He has received distinctions including the ET Inspiring EduLeader of the Year award in 2022, AsiaOne Youth20 Educationist of the Year in 2023, and more recently the Trailblazing Leader in K–12 Education recognition at the Economic Times Annual Education Summit 2025.
