This membrane is made from modified bitumen reinforced with polymers, either SBS (a rubber-modified type built for structures that move) or APP (a plastic-modified asphalt that handles UV and heat well). Installers heat-fuse the sheets onto a substrate that's been cleaned, primed and left completely sound, which creates a continuous watertight seal without sacrificing flexibility.
Torch on waterproofing suits far more than just roofs. Remseal installs it on balconies, basements, underground car parks, lift pits, retaining walls, podium decks and planter boxes, anywhere a flat or low-pitched surface needs long-term protection from water ingress. Before any membrane goes down, the team can carry out leak detection, moisture assessments, drainage analysis and structural checks to pin down what's actually causing a leak.
Because the membrane doesn't absorb water, a correctly installed system stays fully waterproof rather than merely water-resistant, and it's reinforced with polyester or fibreglass across several thicknesses for extra toughness. Mineral finishes let the surface be matched to the look of the building, and since bitumen is a non-toxic organic hydrocarbon, the whole torch on membrane waterproofing process doesn't generate greenhouse gases during installation.
If you're dealing with a leak, planning a new build, or just want advice before choosing a waterproofing system, call Remseal on 1300 171 091 or email [email protected]. The team takes calls Monday to Friday from 6am to 3pm and Saturday mornings, so get in touch now and talk through what your property actually needs.
