Customs Clearance Officer
Key Responsibilities:
- Documentation Management: Prepare, verify, and submit accurate shipping documents, including commercial - invoices, packing lists, Bills of Lading (BL), Certificates of Origin (COO), and import/export declarations.
- Tariff Classification: Classify vehicle models, specialized parts, and components using correct Harmonized System (HS) codes to ensure proper duty and tax calculations.
- Authority Liaison: Act as the primary contact for customs officials, port authorities, and clearance agents.
- Handle physical or digital cargo inspections (red/yellow/green channels).
- Regulatory Compliance: Secure required statutory permits, vehicle clearance certificates (VCC), and technical licenses from relevant government transport or trade ministries.
- Cost & Cost-Recovery Tracking: Monitor and minimize customs duties, port storage charges, demurrage, and clearance expenses.
- Cross-Functional Coordination: Work closely with procurement, warehouse, and finance teams to update delivery schedules and resolve clearance delays.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, International Trade, Business, or a related field.
- With 2 to 5 years of hands-on experience in customs brokerage or freight forwarding, with specific exposure to automotive parts or vehicle imports.
- Strong familiarity with automotive supply chains (CBU/CKD flows), customs tariff structures, and free-trade agreements.
- Proficiency in digital customs portals (e.g., local customs e-systems) and logistics software
- Strong problem-solving abilities, high attention to detail, and excellent negotiation and communication skills
Salary: 500-600BHD (depends on experience)
