Job Summary

We are seeking a responsible and safety-conscious Gangway Watchman to control and monitor personnel movement through designated gangways and access points at marine, offshore, jetty, vessel, and Oil & Gas project locations.

The Gangway Watchman will ensure that only authorized personnel access restricted areas, maintain accurate entry and exit records, monitor gangway conditions, and immediately report unsafe conditions or emergencies in accordance with company and client HSE procedures.

Key Responsibilities

Maintain continuous watch at the assigned gangway or controlled access point during operations.
Monitor and control the entry and exit of personnel, visitors, contractors, and authorized workers.
Verify identification, access authorization, permits, or other required documentation before allowing entry.
Maintain accurate personnel entry/exit logs and headcounts as required.
Ensure unauthorized personnel do not enter vessels, restricted areas, jetties, or controlled work locations.
Monitor the gangway for unsafe conditions, including improper positioning, damaged handrails, inadequate lighting, slippery surfaces, or other hazards.
Ensure gangways and access routes remain clear and safe for personnel movement.
Immediately report unsafe conditions, suspicious activities, incidents, or emergencies to the responsible supervisor/HSE personnel.
Prevent overcrowding and unsafe movement on the gangway.
Maintain communication with vessel personnel, site supervisors, HSE personnel, and security teams as required.
Understand site alarms and emergency procedures and assist with personnel accountability during emergencies.
Ensure emergency access and evacuation routes remain unobstructed.
Follow applicable Permit-to-Work (PTW), HSE, security, and access-control procedures.
Remain at the assigned post until properly relieved by an authorized replacement.
Perform other related safety and access-control duties assigned by the HSE Supervisor.
Qualifications & Requirements

High School or equivalent qualification preferred.
Relevant Gangway Watchman / Safety Watch / Marine Safety training or certification as required by the project or client.
Previous experience as a Gangway Watchman, Safety Watchman, or similar role is preferred.
Experience in Oil & Gas, marine, offshore, shipyard, jetty, or industrial projects is an advantage.
Basic knowledge of workplace HSE requirements and emergency procedures.
Ability to maintain accurate personnel entry and exit records.
Good observation and communication skills.
Ability to understand safety signs, alarms, and site instructions.
Must remain alert and attentive throughout the assigned shift.
Physically fit and capable of working in marine and industrial environments.
Willingness to work shifts, including day/night shifts, as required by project operations.
Preferred

Previous experience on Saudi Aramco, SABIC, offshore, marine, or major EPC projects.
Basic HSE, emergency response, H₂S awareness, or marine safety training.
Familiarity with vessel/jetty access-control and personnel accountability procedures.
