Job Summary

We are seeking an alert and safety-conscious Fire Watch to monitor hot-work activities and prevent fire incidents at Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, and industrial project sites. The Fire Watch will ensure that appropriate fire-prevention measures are maintained before, during, and after hot work in accordance with the Permit-to-Work (PTW) system, company procedures, and client HSE requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Maintain continuous fire watch during welding, cutting, grinding, brazing, heating, and other hot-work activities.

Verify that a valid Hot Work Permit is available before work starts.

Inspect the work area and surrounding locations for combustible materials, flammable substances, and potential fire hazards.

Ensure combustible materials are removed or adequately protected before hot work begins.

Ensure appropriate and serviceable fire extinguishers and firefighting equipment are readily available at the work location.

Monitor sparks, slag, heat, and other ignition sources throughout the activity.

Maintain a clear and safe work area and ensure emergency access routes remain unobstructed.

Immediately stop work if unsafe conditions or fire hazards are identified.

Raise the alarm and initiate site emergency procedures in case of fire or other emergencies.

Use portable fire extinguishers to control an incipient-stage fire when safe, trained, and authorized to do so.

Immediately notify the HSE Officer, supervisor, or emergency response team of any incident or unsafe condition.

Remain at the work location throughout the hot-work activity and continue monitoring for the required post-work fire-watch period specified by the permit or site procedure.

Never leave the assigned fire-watch location without being properly relieved.

Participate in toolbox talks and safety briefings when required.

Follow all applicable PTW, HSE, emergency response, and client safety procedures.

Qualifications & Requirements

High School or equivalent qualification preferred.

Valid Fire Watch / Hot Work Safety training or certification as required by the project/client.

Previous experience as a Fire Watch or Safety Watch in Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Refinery, Construction, or EPC projects is preferred.

Basic knowledge of fire hazards, fire prevention, and emergency response procedures.

Knowledge of different types of portable fire extinguishers and their appropriate use.

Basic understanding of Hot Work Permit and Permit-to-Work (PTW) systems.

Ability to recognize unsafe conditions and take immediate preventive action.

Good observation and communication skills.

Ability to understand site alarms, safety signs, and emergency instructions.

Must remain alert and attentive throughout the assigned duty.

Physically fit and capable of working in industrial/site environments.

Preferred

Previous experience on Saudi Aramco, SABIC, or other major Oil & Gas/Petrochemical projects.

Client-approved Fire Watch certification where required.

Basic Firefighting, H₂S Awareness, and Hot Work Safety training.
