Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Authorized Gas Tester (AGT) to support safe operations across oil & gas and industrial project sites. The position is responsible for conducting atmospheric gas testing, identifying hazardous conditions, and ensuring that work areas are safe before and during activities such as confined-space entry, hot work, excavation, vessel entry, and other high-risk operations.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct atmospheric gas testing before and during hazardous work activities.
Test for oxygen (O₂), flammable gases/LEL, hydrogen sulfide (H₂S), carbon monoxide (CO), and other toxic gases as required by the work environment.
Perform gas testing for confined-space entry, hot work, cold work, vessel/tank entry, excavation, and other permit-controlled activities.
Ensure gas-testing requirements are completed in accordance with the Permit-to-Work (PTW) system and applicable site procedures.
Use approved and calibrated portable gas-detection equipment and perform required pre-use/bump checks.
Record gas-test readings accurately on permits, gas-testing sheets, and other HSE documentation.
Continuously or periodically monitor atmospheric conditions where required by the permit or risk assessment.
Immediately stop or prevent work when gas readings exceed acceptable limits or unsafe atmospheric conditions are identified.
Inform the HSE team, Permit Issuer/Receiver, supervisors, and relevant personnel of unsafe readings or changing conditions.
Verify that adequate ventilation and other required control measures are in place before authorizing or supporting work activities.
Maintain gas-testing equipment in good condition and report defective, damaged, or out-of-calibration equipment.
Participate in toolbox talks, risk assessments, emergency drills, and other HSE activities when required.
Comply with company, client, and applicable Saudi Arabian HSE requirements.
Qualifications & Requirements

High School/Diploma or relevant technical qualification.
Valid Authorized Gas Tester (AGT) certification/training from a recognized or client-approved training provider.
H₂S awareness/training and confined-space safety knowledge preferred.
Minimum 2–3 years of relevant experience as a Gas Tester/Authorized Gas Tester, preferably in Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Refinery, Pipeline, or EPC projects.
Good knowledge of gas hazards, LEL/UEL, oxygen deficiency/enrichment, toxic gases, and atmospheric monitoring.
Practical experience using portable multi-gas detectors.
Understanding of PTW, confined-space entry, hot-work requirements, JSA/JHA, and emergency procedures.
Ability to understand and follow site HSE procedures and gas-testing requirements.
Good communication skills and ability to coordinate effectively with HSE personnel and site operations teams.
Physically fit and capable of working in industrial/site environments.
Preferred

Previous experience on Saudi Aramco, SABIC, or major Oil & Gas/EPC projects.
Client-approved AGT certification, where required by the project.
Familiarity with internationally recognized HSE practices and standards.
