Every let property needs a valid Energy Performance Certificate (EPC). Certificates last 10 years, so many landlords only find out theirs has expired when a tenancy is due to renew. In addition, rented homes are expected to need an EPC rating of C or above under plans for 2030.
EPC Rating Check is a free online tool. Simply enter the property postcode, pick the address, and you will see its current EPC band, the date it was lodged and when it expires. There is no sign-up and no fee.
