Operate and maintain the whole water treatment plant so that treated water is always available at the required quantity and quality for production. Prepare treatment recipes and take periodic samples.
Roles, Accountabilities and Responsibilities
Operation
• Operate the water treatment plant: raw water tanks, multimedia and carbon filters, softeners, reverse osmosis, UV/ozone, storage tanks and transfer pumps.
• Monitor flow, pressure, conductivity, pH and other parameters and keep the daily log.
• Start up, shut down and switch over equipment safely according to procedures.
• Supply treated water to the production lines to match the production plan.
Recipes & dosing
• Prepare treatment recipes and dosing solutions (e.g. chlorine, antiscalant, pH correction, mineral dosing) according to approved formulas.
• Check dosing pumps and tanks, and record chemical consumption and stock.
• Handle chemicals safely and follow the safety data sheets.
Sampling
• Take periodic samples at the defined points and frequency (raw, after each treatment stage, treated water tank, line water) and deliver them to the lab.
• Carry out basic on-line checks and report any out-of-range result immediately.
Maintenance
• Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance on pumps, valves, filters, membranes, dosing systems, pipework and instruments.
• Backwash, regenerate and clean filters, softeners and RO membranes; perform CIP and sanitisation of the treatment system.
• Replace consumables (cartridges, membranes, lamps) and keep a spare-parts list.
• Record all maintenance work and report equipment problems and improvements to the Production Manager.
Qualifications & Experience
• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering / Mechanical Technology (or equivalent technical qualification).
• 3+ years operating and maintaining water treatment plants (RO, filtration, softening, disinfection), preferably bottled water or beverages.
• Mechanical skills: pumps, valves, piping, filters, membranes; basic electrical and instrumentation knowledge.
• Knowledge of water chemistry basics, dosing and chemical safety.
• Ability to read P&IDs, follow SOPs and keep accurate records.
• Willing to work shifts; good Arabic, basic English.
How Performance Is Measured
• Treated water always available for production
• Treated water results within limits
• Sampling plan completed on time
• Preventive maintenance completed on schedule
• Chemical consumption and incident-free operation
