The Chargehand supervises and coordinates on-site activities to meet project quality, safety, and timeline goals. The role involves leading a small team and providing hands-on technical guidance in fit-out trades such as carpentry, joinery, and installation of marble, gypsum, tiles, and similar elements.
Key Responsibilities
Direct and supervise a small team, ensuring work follows specifications and drawings.
Coordinate daily tasks and resources with site supervisors and engineers.
Inspect work regularly for quality and adherence to project requirements.
Enforce health and safety compliance, conduct site safety checks, and deliver daily toolbox talks.
Resolve on-site issues and delays to keep work moving.
Manage material deliveries and usage to avoid shortages and wastage.
Perform specialized tasks (carpentry, joinery, partitioning, flooring, ceilings, doors) when required.
Report progress and challenges to foremen, supervisors, and engineers.
Keep the site clean, organized, and hazard-free.
Train and mentor junior workers, and monitor team performance with feedback.
Candidate Requirements
Minimum 5 years of interior fit-out experience with hands-on carpentry, joinery, partitioning, and installation work.
Strong knowledge of fit-out processes and ability to read technical drawings.
Proven ability to lead a small team and deliver on time and to a high standard.
Good problem-solving, organizational, and time management skills.
Solid understanding of health and safety regulations, with the ability to enforce them.
Strong communication skills for coordinating with foremen, supervisors, engineers, and workers.
Experience managing on-site materials efficiently.
Strong attention to detail.
Physically fit for on-site manual work and extended standing.
