Sardar Patel Institute Of Ayurvedic Medical Sciences & Research Centre Lucknow

Sardar Patel Institute of Ayurvedic Medical Sciences & Research Centre (SPIAMSRC), Lucknow, is a private Ayurvedic medical college located in Vill-Kankaha, Mohanlalganj, on Raebareli Road, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. Established around 2015–2016, it has grown into one of the notable private institutions offering education in the Indian system of medicine in the region.

The institute is approved by the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM, formerly CCIM) under the Ministry of AYUSH and is affiliated with Mahayogi Guru Gorakhnath AYUSH University, Gorakhpur (with earlier associations noted with the University of Lucknow). It operates as a co-educational college focused on preserving and advancing classical Ayurvedic knowledge while preparing students for contemporary healthcare practice.

Its primary programme is the Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS), a 5½-year course comprising 4½ years of academic study divided into three professional phases of 1½ years each, followed by a one-year compulsory internship. The annual intake is 100 seats. Admission is based on NEET-UG scores through national (AACCC) and Uttar Pradesh state AYUSH counselling. Eligibility requires 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (minimum 50% aggregate, with relaxation for reserved categories) and the required NEET percentile.

The curriculum is delivered through 13 departments covering foundational subjects such as Rachana Sharir (Anatomy), Kriya Sharir (Physiology), Padarth Vigyan, Sanskrit, and Maulik Siddhant in the first year; Rog Nidan, Dravyaguna, Rasashastra & Bhaishajya Kalpana, and Charak Samhita in the second; and clinical subjects including Prasuti Tantra & Stri Rog, Kaumarbhritya, Agad Tantra, Kayachikitsa, Shalya Tantra, Shalakya Tantra, and Panchakarma in later years.

In addition to BAMS, the institute offers a Diploma in Ayurvedic Pharmacy (D.Pharma, 2 years + 6 months internship, 50 seats) and GNM (Ayurveda) nursing (3 years + internship, 50 seats). These programmes aim to build a skilled workforce in Ayurvedic pharmacy and nursing support.

SPIAMSRC’s stated mission is to serve as a custodian of classical and traditional Ayurvedic knowledge, develop competent human resources for teaching and research, and empower graduates with sound knowledge of Ayurveda and allied systems so they can contribute to community health. The vision emphasises quality education at an affordable cost.

The campus, spanning roughly 8 acres, includes academic blocks, departmental laboratories (including Sharir Rachana and other practical labs), a library with Ayurvedic texts and references, a herbal garden, sports facilities, transport, and separate hostels for boys and girls. An attached hospital provides clinical training opportunities in areas such as Panchakarma, OPD/IPD services, and other Ayurvedic therapies, supporting hands-on learning. Faculty strength is reported around 50+, with experienced professors and associates heading various departments.

Overall, SPIAMSRC contributes to the expansion of Ayurvedic medical education in Uttar Pradesh by combining traditional principles with structured clinical training, infrastructure for practical learning, and pathways into professional practice as Ayurvedic physicians, pharmacists, and nurses.
