Closed Loop Stepper Motor

A closed loop stepper motor system uses feedback, commonly obtained through an encoder, to monitor the motor's actual position. The controller can compare this feedback with the desired position and respond when a discrepancy occurs.
This approach differs from conventional open-loop stepper systems, which generally operate without continuously checking the actual shaft position. Feedback can help identify missed movement and improve control when operating conditions or loads change.
Closed-loop stepper technology is useful in CNC machines, automated assembly equipment, precision positioning units, and manufacturing systems that require repeatable movement. Depending on the design, it may also improve energy utilisation and reduce unnecessary motor heating under certain operating conditions.
