Job Title: AutoCAD Draftsman – Joinery & Woodworks

Employment Type: Full-Time
1. Job Purpose
To prepare accurate AutoCAD shop drawings, detailed joinery drawings, production drawings, and cutting details for interior fit-out and wooden factory projects. The position is responsible for converting approved designs into practical manufacturing and installation drawings, ensuring accuracy, material optimization, and timely production.
2. Key Responsibilities
A. AutoCAD Drafting & Technical Drawings
- Prepare detailed 2D AutoCAD drawings for interior fit-out and joinery works.
- Develop shop drawings for wooden doors, wardrobes, kitchen cabinets, vanity units, wall panels, TV units, reception counters, office furniture, and custom-made furniture.
- Prepare plan views, elevations, sections, and enlarged construction details.
- Prepare detailed drawings for wooden partitions, decorative wall cladding, ceiling features, skirting, and other interior woodwork.
- Convert approved architectural and interior design drawings into detailed manufacturing drawings.
B. Factory Production Drawings
- Prepare fabrication and production drawings for factory execution.
- Provide accurate dimensions, material thicknesses, edge details, joinery methods, hardware positions, and assembly details.
- Prepare cutting lists, panel layouts, and material take-offs for MDF, plywood, veneer, laminate, solid wood, and other specified materials.
- Coordinate drawings for CNC cutting, drilling, and routing wherever applicable.
- Prepare component drawings, assembly drawings, and installation details.
- Ensure drawings are practical for factory machinery, fabrication methods, and site installation.
C. Interior Fit-Out Coordination
- Coordinate with interior designers, project managers, site engineers, and factory production teams.
- Review architectural and interior design drawings before commencing shop drawings.
- Verify site dimensions and coordinate with site teams to resolve dimensional discrepancies.
- Incorporate approved revisions and client or consultant comments.
- Coordinate woodwork with electrical, lighting, plumbing, and other MEP requirements where applicable.
D. Material & Hardware Coordination
- Identify appropriate materials and finishes according to approved specifications.
- Specify hinges, drawer runners, handles, locks, connectors, and other joinery hardware.
- Coordinate with procurement and production teams regarding material availability and specifications.
- Assist in optimizing material usage and minimizing wastage.
E. Quality Control & Documentation
- Check all dimensions, levels, clearances, and assembly details before releasing drawings for production.
- Maintain drawing registers, revision numbers, and approved drawing records.
- Prepare as-built drawings and installation details when required.
- Ensure production drawings are approved by the authorized person before manufacturing.
- Coordinate with the quality team to resolve drawing-related production issues.
3. Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Drafting, Civil Engineering, Architecture, Interior Design, or a related field.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in wooden joinery, furniture manufacturing, or interior fit-out drafting.
- Experience in a joinery or woodworking factory is strongly preferred.
- Saudi Arabia or GCC project experience is an advantage.
4. Technical Skills
- Excellent proficiency in AutoCAD 2D.
- Strong knowledge of furniture and joinery construction details.
- Ability to prepare manufacturing drawings, cutting lists, elevations, sections, and assembly details.
- Knowledge of MDF, HDF, plywood, veneer, laminate, solid wood, and common joinery hardware.
- Understanding of CNC machining and production workflows is an advantage.
- Knowledge of SketchUp, Cabinet Vision, TopSolid Wood, or similar software is an added advantage.
- Ability to read architectural drawings and approved interior design specifications.
5. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Accuracy of factory production and joinery drawings.
- Timely release of drawings for manufacturing.
- Reduction in material wastage and cutting errors.
- Reduction in factory rework and site installation discrepancies.
- Compliance with approved designs and material specifications.
- Effective coordination between the design, factory, procurement, and site teams.
6. Personal Competencies
- High attention to detail and dimensional accuracy.
- Practical understanding of woodworking and furniture assembly.
- Strong problem-solving and coordination skills.
- Ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Good communication with factory supervisors, carpenters, installers, and project teams.
7. Working Conditions
- Based at the company's wooden factory or technical office in Saudi Arabia.
- Factory and project site visits as required.
- Must coordinate closely with production, installation, procurement, and project management teams.
- Employment conditions shall comply with company policy and applicable Saudi Labour Law.
Important: The draftsman must ensure that drawings are technically accurate, manufacturable, and coordinated with site conditions before releasing them for production. All drawings must follow the company's approval procedures.
