Microsoft Power BI Developer – ETL, Data Integration & Business Intelligence

1. Position Overview
We are looking for highly skilled and practically experienced Microsoft Power BI Developers who can design, develop, and implement end-to-end data integration, ETL processes, centralized data repositories, and enterprise-level business intelligence solutions.
The candidate must have strong hands-on experience in collecting, integrating, transforming, and consolidating data from multiple databases, applications, and external data sources into a centralized repository using standardized data templates.
The primary objective is to establish a Single Source of Truth (SSOT) that enables consolidated business analytics, management dashboards, operational reports, and financial reporting through Microsoft Power BI.
This position requires someone who can independently handle the complete technical lifecycle, from source data extraction and database management to ETL development, data modelling, dashboard development, publishing, and automated data refresh.
2. Key Responsibilities
A. Data Integration & ETL Development
• Design and develop ETL processes to extract, transform, validate, and load data from multiple databases and business applications.
• Integrate data from Microsoft SQL Server, ERP systems, financial applications, operational systems, Excel files, APIs, and other data sources.
• Develop standardized data templates and common data structures to consolidate information from different systems.
• Build centralized data repositories / data warehouses to maintain consistent and reliable business data.
• Implement data cleansing, transformation, validation, reconciliation, and mapping processes.
• Establish automated data gathering and synchronization workflows.
B. Microsoft SQL Server & Database Management
• Strong practical experience with Microsoft SQL Server, database architecture, administration, and management.
• Develop complex SQL queries, stored procedures, views, functions, and data extraction scripts.
• Design and optimize database structures, relationships, indexes, and data models.
• Manage large volumes of data and optimize database performance.
• Understand data relationships, normalization, and integration across multiple databases.
C. Microsoft Power BI Development
• Develop interactive, graphical, and management-level Power BI dashboards.
• Build operational, financial, analytical, and executive management dashboards.
• Develop complex data models, relationships, DAX calculations, and Power Query transformations.
• Prepare consolidated financial reports from multiple source systems.
• Build classical tabular reports as well as advanced graphical dashboards.
• Handle multiple dashboards, reports, and reporting requirements simultaneously.
• Ensure consistency, accuracy, and reconciliation of information across different data sources.
D. Data Architecture – Three-Layer Understanding
The candidate must have a thorough understanding and practical implementation experience across all three layers:
1. Technical Layer: Data extraction, ETL, SQL Server, database architecture, data integration, data warehousing, and automated workflows.
2. Business Layer: Business logic, data mapping, KPI definitions, financial calculations, business rules, reconciliation, and standardized reporting structures.
3. Presentation Layer: Power BI dashboards, graphical visualizations, management reports, financial statements, analytical reports, and executive-level reporting.
E. Publishing, Refreshing & Deployment
• Configure Power BI Service and workspace management.
• Implement scheduled and automated dataset refreshes.
• Configure and manage On-premises Data Gateway where required.
• Manage data source credentials, refresh schedules, and deployment processes.
• Implement appropriate access controls, row-level security (RLS), and report-sharing mechanisms.
• Troubleshoot refresh failures, data inconsistencies, and dashboard performance issues.
3. Mandatory Technical Skills
Candidates must have demonstrable practical experience in:
• Microsoft Power BI Desktop and Power BI Service.
• Microsoft SQL Server and database management.
• SQL queries, Stored Procedures, Views, and Functions.
• ETL development and data transformation.
• Power Query (M Language).

4. Educational & Experience Requirements
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or an equivalent relevant discipline.
• Minimum 4–5 years of real-time, hands-on professional experience in Microsoft Power BI development and data integration.
• Proven experience in delivering complete BI projects from source data extraction to final dashboard deployment.
• Strong understanding of database architecture and business reporting requirements.
• Ability to independently manage multiple projects and complex reporting requirements.
• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving capabilities.
