A valve technician installs, inspects, maintains, tests, and repairs industrial valves—such as control, safety, and isolation valves—ensuring safe and efficient fluid or gas flow in systems used in industries like oil and gas, water treatment, and manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities:
Inspection & Diagnostics
- Check valves for wear, leaks, pressure issues, and mechanical defects.
- Assess components such as actuators, regulators, and sensors.
Maintenance & Repair:
- Clean, lubricate, calibrate, and replace worn or damaged parts.
- Perform preventive maintenance to extend valve lifespan.
Installation & Testing:
- Install new valves and ensure proper setup using blueprints and manuals.
- Conduct pressure tests, leak tests, and verify flow and temperature requirements.
System Monitoring:
- Monitor meter readings and verify pressure requirements.
Documentation & Safety:
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, and tests.
- Follow safety standards and industry regulations to prevent hazards.
1. Report to concern supervisor for daily work updating.
2. Understand the Equipment drawing of the mechanical system and monitor, implement maintenance activities.
3. Put the planned preventive maintenance system into operation.
4. Preventive maintenance of plant VALVES/PUMPS equipment as per OEM recommendations and RIG standard operating procedures.
5. Should have knowledge of simple mechanism related to VALVES/PUMPS equipment.
6. Take corrective actions to reduce time of interruptions.
7. Fault detection during process interruptions due to mechanical failures.
8. Carry out, planned preventive maintenance.
9. Coordinate with supervisor about the condition of machines and availability of spares
10.Ensure maintenance records are updated and Job sheet of VALVES/PUMPS equipment are maintained
11.Responsible for KPI’s in maintenance activities
12.Effectively implement ISO QMS / company procedures in his/her work premises.
13.Other duties as assigned.
