What Causes Premature Ejaculation?

Premature Ejaculation (PE) is one of the most common male sexual concerns. It happens when ejaculation occurs sooner than desired during sexual activity, often with minimal stimulation and before a person wishes. PE is usually caused by a combination of psychological, biological, and relationship-related factors.

1️⃣ Psychological Causes - These are the most common triggers: Performance anxiety – Worrying about sexual performance can speed up ejaculation. Stress – Work pressure, financial worries, or personal stress. Guilt or shame related to sex. Early sexual experiences – Conditioning the body to ejaculate quickly. Mental health plays a major role in sexual response, especially in younger men.
2️⃣ Biological Causes - Some physical factors can contribute: Low serotonin levels – Serotonin helps regulate ejaculation timing. Erectile dysfunction (ED) – Men may rush due to fear of losing erection. Neurotransmitters in the brain (like serotonin and dopamine) directly influence ejaculation control.
3️⃣ Relationship Factors - Poor communication with partner, Relationship conflicts, Lack of emotional intimacy, New sexual relationship excitement. Emotional connection strongly affects sexual timing.
4️⃣ Types of Premature Ejaculation - Lifelong PE – Present from the first sexual experience. Acquired PE – Develops later in life after previously normal control.
5️⃣ Risk Factors - Chronic stress, Anxiety disorders, Erectile dysfunction, Certain medications, Hormonal changes.
