Job Summary
A mid-level Field Technician responsible for the installation, testing, and maintenance of electrical and instrumentation systems on industrial and commercial projects. Works under the guidance of senior technicians and project engineers to carry out field activities in accordance with project specifications, drawings, and safety standards. Actively develops technical skills across electrical and instrumentation disciplines while contributing to efficient and quality project delivery.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Installing and terminating electrical systems including cables, conduits, junction boxes, distribution boards, and panels.
• Installing instrumentation equipment such as transmitters, sensors, pressure gauges, flow meters, and control valves under supervision.
• Performing basic calibration and functional testing of instrumentation devices using standard field test equipment.
• Assisting in loop checks, continuity testing, and pre-commissioning activities on electrical and instrumentation systems.
• Reading and interpreting electrical wiring diagrams, single-line diagrams, P&IDs, and instrument data sheets.
• Supporting fault-finding and troubleshooting activities on electrical and instrumentation systems on-site.
• Carrying out preventive and corrective maintenance tasks as directed by the site supervisor.
• Preparing daily work reports, field inspection checklists, and basic as-built markups.
• Coordinating with site supervisors and engineers during installation and commissioning phases.
• Ensuring full compliance with HSE regulations, permit-to-work systems, and site safety requirements.
• Maintaining tools, test equipment, and site materials in good working condition.

Qualifications (Education, Experience, Credentials)
Education: Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation & Control, or related technical field

Experience: 3–5 years of hands-on field experience in electrical and/or instrumentation works
Licenses/Certifications: Relevant trade or technical certification (e.g., ISA CCST Level I, or equivalent) is an advantage.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs)
• Working knowledge of LV electrical installation practices including cables, distribution boards, and earthing systems.
• Familiarity with common instrumentation devices: pressure, temperature, level, and flow transmitters.
• Ability to read and follow electrical schematics, P&IDs, loop diagrams, and wiring drawings.
• Hands-on experience with basic field test equipment: multimeters, loop calibrators, and HART communicators.
• Understanding of 4-20mA signal wiring and basic instrumentation loop concepts.
• Basic knowledge of HSE standards, permit-to-work procedures, and on-site safety practices.
• Ability to work effectively within a team and follow instructions from senior technicians and supervisors.
• Good attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
• Willingness to learn and develop skills across electrical and instrumentation disciplines.
• Basic report writing and documentation skills.
• Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) – basic proficiency.
