A Lifting Engineer is responsible for designing, planning, and managing heavy lifting operations to ensure safety and efficiency. They calculate load capacities, design complex lifting plans, ensure strict regulatory compliance, and oversee equipment integrity across construction and industrial sites.
Core responsibilities:
1. Planning and Engineering Develop Lift Plans: Create detailed, site-specific lift plans, including rigging configurations, crane placement, and radius calculations.Calculate Load Capacities: Perform precise mathematical and engineering assessments to verify load weights, center of gravity, and crane capacities.
Assess Ground Conditions:
Evaluate soil stability and structural integrity to ensure the ground can support heavy mobile or crawler cranes.
2. Safety and Compliance
Risk Assessments: Conduct thorough hazard identification and produce comprehensive risk assessment reports before any lift occurs.
Regulatory Adherence: Ensure all operations meet international and local safety standards (e.g., OSHA, LOLER, or local municipal building codes).Equipment Verification: Verify that all lifting gear, slings, and cranes are certified, properly maintained, and compliant with regulatory mandates.
3. Site Supervision and Operations
Coordinate Teams: Act as the main point of contact bridging site managers, subcontractors, riggers, and crane operators.Supervise Critical Lifts: Oversee complex or non-routine lifts to guarantee adherence to approved engineering designs.Technical Support: Provide troubleshooting and technical advice for resolving deviations or unexpected equipment issues
