Job Description

The Fire Alarm & Fire Water Pump Technician shall be responsible for the installation, testing, commissioning, operation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of fire alarm and fire water pump systems. The technician shall ensure that all activities are carried out safely and in accordance with approved drawings, project specifications, manufacturer recommendations, and applicable fire protection standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Install and maintain fire alarm control panels, smoke/heat detectors, manual call points, sounders, strobes, modules, relays, and associated devices.
• Carry out cable pulling, termination, labeling, continuity testing, and fault identification.
• Read and interpret fire alarm drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, and system layouts.
• Program, configure, test, and troubleshoot fire alarm control panels and related systems.
• Test fire alarm interfaces with HVAC, BMS, access control, fire suppression, and emergency systems where applicable.
• Install, inspect, test, operate, and maintain electric, diesel, and jockey fire water pumps.
• Check fire pump controllers, pressure switches, gauges, valves, batteries, fuel systems, and associated equipment.
• Perform routine preventive maintenance and operational testing of fire water pump systems.
• Monitor pump pressure, starting/stopping sequence, alarms, and automatic/manual operation.
• Troubleshoot faults related to fire pumps, controllers, electrical connections, and associated fire protection equipment.
• Carry out fire pump flow tests and performance checks as required by the project or maintenance schedule.

Required Qualifications

• Diploma or Technical Certificate in Electrical, Mechanical, Electronics, Instrumentation, Fire Protection, or a related field.
• Minimum 2–3 years of relevant experience in fire alarm and fire water pump systems.
• Hands-on experience with addressable and conventional fire alarm systems.
• Practical experience with electric, diesel, and jockey fire pumps and their control systems.
• Knowledge of fire alarm testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance.
• Knowledge of fire pump operation, maintenance, testing, and troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with NFPA 20, NFPA 72, and applicable project/client requirements is preferred.
• Manufacturer training or relevant fire alarm/fire pump certifications are an advantage.
• Good communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
